The Perfect Christmas Gift
The Christmas rush is in…. so many seeking ‘the perfect gift’… last minute shoppers and anxiety blurs the [true] spirit of the season…
and yet,
how can so many under-value ‘the perfect gift’?
As a former care-giver for my elderly dad, I can assure many that the elderly really don’t need ‘that scarf’… ‘that shirt’… or ‘those slippers’…
As one who experienced the death of loved ones, I can assure you that there is no gift to be bought that can ‘heal’ a broken-heart…
but,
in contrast to what society expects,
there is ‘the gift of love’…
Huh?
Well, because one has gotten older doesn’t mean they are without feelings, right? So, instead of buying the unnecessary scarf, slippers or whatever why not schedule ‘time’ to be spent with that person?
Those in mourning do not need to be told how to feel but rather be loved unconditionally for where they are currently at… spend time with them allowing ‘them to be them’….
A ‘woman’ is still a woman regardless of age… why not visit an elderly parent/grandparent and give a manicure while chatting? Pedicure? Reading? Skimming through family photos?
Same goes for an elderly man…. Spend time and ditch the ‘store-bought’ and take pictures!
Quality time with those we love is ‘price-less’….
None of us know when our ‘last Christmas’’ with our loved ones will be, so, instead of ‘stressing’ through the malls, create a lasting memory giving the gift of ‘LOVE’…
May God Bless each of you abundantly this Christmas Season and in the New Year!
